Beyond the product, the name reflects our commitment to producing the best while honouring the bees that make it possible.

Our journey began naturally over time, without a single defining moment, but rather through shared curiosity, dedication, and love. Louise and Derek were inspired to start beekeeping to spend meaningful time together, to reconnect through a shared purpose, and to engage in something that made a tangible difference in the world. What started as a small backyard hobby grew into a larger mission: to protect bees, produce quality honey, and educate our community on the essential role these insects play in our ecosystem.
We started our journey in September 2024 with just a handful of hives, gifted to us by friends who shared our passion. Over time, this grew to include more colonies and new apiary sites, allowing us to expand our reach and impact. Beekeeping has been a deeply personal and rewarding experience, allowing us to witness firsthand the intricate and astonishing lives of bees. Watching a colony thrive, seeing the honey produced, and experiencing the natural rhythms of the hive has instilled a sense of purpose, wonder, and respect for these remarkable creatures.

The survival of bees is critical for pollination, food production, and biodiversity. By maintaining healthy hives, introducing new colonies, and promoting urban and rural beekeeping, we are actively contributing to conservation. Every hive we care for is a safe haven for bees, nurtured with love and sustainable practices.

At Bee One Honey, every batch of honey is unique. The flavour, colour, and aroma vary with each harvest depending on the flowers the bees have collected nectar from. Our honey from Johannesburg is classified as multiflora honey, a blend of multiple plant sources, resulting in a rich, complex, and naturally changing flavour profile throughout the year.
The honey we produce is sweet, smooth, and perfect for everyday use, whether in tea, on toast, cooking, or baking. Each jar reflects the health of the hive, the season, and the surrounding flora, creating a product that is both authentic and premium.
Raw, Unfiltered, and Sustainable:
We focus exclusively on raw honey, gently sieved to remove larger natural particles like wax, but otherwise left completely unprocessed. No heat is applied, preserving the natural enzymes and nutrients. This ensures every jar of Bee One Honey is 100% raw, natural, and as the bees intended.
Sizes and Packaging:
Our honey is available in:
- 500g glass bottles – perfect for home use
- 1.5kg tubs and larger buckets up to 10kg – ideal for bulk buyers, cafés, bakeries, or family households
At this stage, we do not produce infused honey, creamed honey, honeycomb, or beeswax products, though these may be explored in the future. Our focus remains on producing honest, raw, high-quality honey that customers can trust.
